I’m reporting my automatic purchases for last week:
I Bought:
$500 of BBL
$200 of COP
I used $700 in new capital and added $31.50year to my dividend income. This is an average yield of 4.5%.
Note:
BBL has endured a lot of weakness since announcing a de-merger where they are going to split up some of their assets into another company. BBL is sitting at a 52-week low and also not up to a full weight in my portfolio so I decided to add more. I may likely do the same thing next week if the price stays this low.
COP is attractive along with some other energy names. My weight is a little lower in this company so I’ll likely be adding small pieces when I can.

Just for some fun and to add some color I will be posting pictures of places I’ve been to. It’s also motivation to reach FI so I can travel and do what I want to when I want to.
I’m a little behind on some posts because I’ve been in Portland for a few days. Above is a picture of the front of Deschute’s Brewery. I had to go twice because it was so good.
AAI,
Great job staying in the energy sector despite the recent turmoil. I know you are a bit heavy in this sector and I am getting a bit heavy as well. I remember buying shares of Target at the end of last year and the first part of this year when they were stuck in the mud. Looking back on it now I see that the strategy is paying off. I feel the same way about the energy names now. Keep up the great work!

MDP,
I’ve already got a large percentage of my portfolio weight in energy. However, it’s hard to resist some of these prices. I still have a long ways to go so I don’t mind going temporarily overweight in energy.
Yeah, TGT has already popped quite a bit from where I was making purchases. So has KMI. I think long-term, I should be in good shape.
Thanks for stopping by!
I think many agree that energy along with other commodities will be bouncing back. The question which no one can really answer is when. The idea is to load up while things are depressed and all across the DGI blogs you read about purchases in XOM, BP, CVX, COP and others. I just added COP to my watch list not long ago but haven’t pulled the trigger on it yet. I will say that yield is looking very enticing. Thanks for sharing your recent buy.
Hi Divhut,
I’m with you on energy. Even though I have a high weight, I’m still buying because I expect a bounce at some point. I own all you mentioned besides XOM, plus I have a sizable piece of KMI and ESV.
Thanks for stopping by!
Some very good buys! I’ve been staying primarily in the energy sector as well, taking advantage (I hope) of the weakness. I just bought 11 shares of BBL today to start a small position. Thanks for sharing!

SAD,
Nice buy on BBL. I think commodities will recover at some point also. There seems to be a lot of value in the energy and materials sector.
Cheers!
Very solid buys. Both are very attractive companies. I’d love to go down to Portland one of these days again. It’s becoming a popular destination for us Vancouverites.

Tawcan,
Thanks, I think both will do well for me in the long-term. I’d love to visit Vancouver sometime also. I’ve never been to Canada but it’s on my list! So many places but so little time.
Cheers!
