I’m reporting my automatic purchases for the last two weeks:
I Bought:
$350 of BDX (Becton Dickinson)
$1200 of UL (Unilever)
I used $1550 in new capital and added $49.60/year to my dividend income. This is an average yield of 3.2%.
Note:
I will keep building up UL until it’s a full position.
BDX is below average weight and even though prices are much higher, my cost basis is still a lot lower than current prices. I will attempt to bring BDX up to a full weight. The biggest drawback is a low 1.8% yield.

Just for some fun and to add some color I will be posting pictures of places I’ve been to. It’s also motivation to reach FI so I can travel and do what I want to when I want to.
This is a picture from outside our room in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic from June of last year.
BDX or DE?
It was BDX, I corrected the error.
Thanks for stopping by!
Brent,
Would love to own a chunk of BDX at some point. That’s a great company. Really missed out when it was in the low $80s. Can’t own them all.
Wanted to let you know you listed BDX as John Deere at the top.
Beautiful picture there of Punta Cana. I have a cousin that just visited recently. Said it was awesome. The more pictures you post up, the more I’m convinced you’ve been all over the world. I’m really jealous!
Best regards.

Hi Jason,
The price sure keeps shooting up. I plan to add small chunks to keep my weight about average. It seems like the whole medical sector in general has gone up a lot in the last year.
Thanks for letting me know. I already corrected that.
Thanks. We had a really good time. It’s fairly inexpensive and the resorts there are all-inclusive. Well there’s a lot of the world I haven’t seen yet. It’s motivation for me to reach FI as soon as possible.
Cheers!
I like both companies a lot and have owned BDX for a long time. I do think they are a bit over valued at current prices but a solid long term dividend payer and raiser nonetheless. Thanks for sharing your recent purchases.

DivHut,
I don’t think BDX is cheap but I’m still keeping my cost basis quite a bit lower by adding small pieces at a time. I like their history of dividend raises for sure and the sector in general.
Take care!
I’ve seen quite a few people buy UL lately. Haven’t done my own research, but I’m assuming it’s a good purchase right now. I think the company itself, qualitatively, is a good idea.

Hi Wallet,
Yeah, I missed UL earlier in the year at cheaper prices but decided I had to own the company. They have so many products that I use! I plan to slowly build up to a full position.
Thanks for stopping by!
Im likin that UL purchase at these levels

Asset Grinder,
Thanks. I plan to keep UL for the long-term. They are a solid company with lots of huge international brands.
Cheers!
I really like UL for their emerging market exposure and being a consumer staple that should help smooth out the often jagged nature of growth in those markets. I missed the boat on BDX when it was much cheaper and the low starting yield is keeping me from starting a position.
I added some V and GE though this morning and it was good to start adding to my portfolio again.

JC,
Yeah I love the international exposure as well as the giant brands they control. I don’t blame you with BDX. The yield is definitely low and I try to limit myself to those types of companies.
Nice additions with V and GE. I’m a big fan of V and need to add more. I sold GE way too soon and didn’t buy back due to the dividend freeze. It looks like they have gotten things together and would be a nice addition. I will have to take a closer look.
Thanks for stopping by!
Nice purchases AAI. UL has lot of exposure to emerging markets and hence has lot of growth opportunities ahead. Haven’t looked at BDX at all… Will need to add it to my watchlist.

DGJ,
Thanks! I love the exposure to international markets, that’s a big reason I chose to add UL. I also use a lot of their brands. I think most people do and may not realize it.
Take care!
